For this young family the time had come to ditch the builder's basics and family hand-me-downs and invest in a style that is all their own. We repainted every room in the house as well as the two fireplace surrounds on the ground floor, adding a modern touch and brightening the space considerably. We sourced custom, locally-made furniture and mixed quality pieces with off-the-rack storage solutions for toys. And to everyone's delight, we were able to update and incorporate many family heirlooms in the fresh new space.
This project involved a complete kitchen rehab for a family who had just moved into this charming character house in East Vancouver. Due to budgetary constraints, we chose to save the existing terracotta tile in the room, but completely reconfigured the room's layout to create more storage and a family-friendly eating space. We also added a kitchen island, sized to fit the long, narrow room while providing ample working space. The open-ended storage on the island gives the kitchen a relaxed, casual feel.
Starting a fresh chapter as a single mom, this client was eager to create a fun and personalized new home for her school-age daughter. From flooring to paint colours to custom furniture sized to fit a Vancouver condo, this space was designed with an eye on creating a welcoming spot for a couple of gals to spend some quality time.
This project was a kitchen renovation for a young couple with a love of both bohemian and modern design. Working in conjunction with Andrew Barker of AJ Barker Design, we completely gutted the kitchen's original 1960's kitchen and created a space that is both sleek and modern, yet colourful and full of playful detail. Features include custom cabinetry, eco-friendly bamboo flooring, a bench seat which doubles as storage, and a chalkboard walk where this growing family can express themselves.
Crafted Interiors was a curatorial project that I was involved with under the banner of the inaugural Crafted Vancouver Festival. Crafted Vancouver is an annual three-week which showcases exceptional local, national and international craftsmanship. I was the designer of the Crafted Interiors show which was held at The Pipe Shop in North Vancouver from May 20 - 24, 2018, and my role was to co-ordinate and create a cohesive staging of the work of over 30 fine artisans.
Quick snap of a kitchen renovation project in Port Coquitlam. The kitchen lowers do double-duty in this case; inside the kitchen, the lower cabinets house a dishwasher and kitchen sink, and on the cabinet's reverse, a custom credenza faces the dining area.
